Located on Route 872 just a short distance north of the town of Austin, the failed Austin Dam stands in sentinel remembrance of a tragic event. Click on the photos for a better view.
	The Austin Dam is an easy place to visit. You get an excellent view from Route 872. A dirt road through Austin Dam Memorial Park (enter from Route 872 just north of the dam) will take you to the foot of the dam. There you can get out of your car, stand between failed portions of the structure, and truly appreciate this important historical site.
